On June 26th, 2020 on the International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking, Akal Academies conducted a webinar for its 129 public schools and it also set a world record to participate more than 60,000 students’ at a single event. The webinar was started at 11 AM on June 26 while students from the Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, & Uttar Pradesh attended this webinar conducted by The Kalgidhar Trust Baru Sahib with the motive of removing drug addiction in the children. After concluding this webinar, it has been deemed as one of the largest online gatherings of students which have also been noted by the book of records in the United Kingdom. The key speakers of the event were Psychiatrist & Counselors, Dr. (Col) Rajinder Singh, Managing Director of Akal Drug De-Addiction Center, Dr. NL Gupta, M. Phil. Senior Psychologist & Ph.D.

With the help of this webinar, speakers tried to give the side effects of drugs along with the hazardous consequences of illegal trafficking. The particular website against drug abuse & illicit trafficking was around 45 minutes long. Dr. Gupta insisted on substance abuse education which is one of the most important education to adopt for teenagers, children & adults. However, they also said that there are some misconceptions between reasonable & unreasonable substances.

On the other side, Dr. Rajinder provided lessons of health education to the students, & teenagers incorporating the topics on drug & alcohol abuse. He also tried to explain the warning signs of addiction and the effects of drugs in our body & mind. Thus Dr. Rajinder also showed examples of consequences of drugs in one’s physical & mental health.
