The All India Students Association (AISA) along with the teachers & students greatly reacted against the stance of the university to conduct the open book exams for the final year’s students. Hence, the group of teachers, students & AISA members said that 10 days are not enough to remove the pandemic from the country. The DU administration took the decision to postpone the Open Book Examinations (OBE) where the new dates are to be announced by July 3, 2020. However, the DUTA (Delhi University Teachers Association) was also not in the favor to conduct the OBEs since the beginning.
Hence, after so much resistance from the students’ side to conduct the Open Book Exams, the DU administration withdrew its decision after understanding their concern. Along with providing the information of postponement of the exams, DUTA also said that the COVID 19 cases are not going to improve all of a sudden so we also urge the university administration to conduct the Open Book Exams only after diminishing the number of Coronavirus cases in the country. As per the statement given by the All Indian Students Association, DU has also failed in conducting the mock exam for the students.
At the time of providing information to the students regarding the postponement of the exams that the career of 4 lakhs students can’t be taken at stake. Thus students were also happy after withdrawing the decision of conducting the Open Book Exams in DU. Most of the students were speculating of the conduction of the Open Books exams for the final year students in the month of July but it was also a suspicion due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Delhi that the exam may be postponed but it was not made clear by the DU administration as on June 27. So, along with the DUTA, students, & teachers, the UGC panel also suggested the DU authority to postpone the exam, the report said.
